For continued safe and comfortable wearing of your lenses, it is important that you first clean and rinse, then disinfect your lenses after each removal, using the care regimen recommended by your eye care practitioner. You will need a clean towel, warm water, enzyme cleaner, a cleaning solution prescribed by your eye doctor and a clean contact lens case. Never forget to wash your hands well before starting the procedure. Dry them thoroughly with a clean towel.
Place the right lens in the palm of your hand. Pour a few drops of the solution on your RGP contact lenses rub it gently back and forth. Add more solution to rinse then rub it gently again and then rinse it once again. Follow the same method with your other lens.
Store your lenses in the case that is filled with fresh solution. RGP contact lenses should be cleaned once a week with an enzyme cleaner. Do not rinse your RGP lens with water or saliva.
Place the lens in the palm of your hand with a few drops of solution and rub for 30 seconds. Rinse with either multipurpose solution (MPS) or preserved saline. Never use water. Place the lens in your clean lens case or lens holder and fill with fresh solution – don’t “top off” your old solution. Disinfecting kills microorganisms on the lens.
