SMILE EYE PROCEDURE
SMILE stands for Small Incision Lenticule Extraction. It is the latest minimally – invasive laser refractive surgery for correcting Myopia and Astigmatism. SMILE is a flapless, bladeless form of keyhole procedure
Lasik requires approximately 20mm opening while SMILE requires only a tiny opening (<4mm) to facilitate removing a lenticule.
Lenticule is removed through the small incision, and the disruption of corneal biomechanics is minimal. Once the lenticule is removed from the corneal stroma, the corneal shape is altered, hence the desired refractive correction is achieved.
Advantages of SMILE
No flap complication
Smaller Cut
Preserves corneal biomechanical strength
Lesser risk of infection
Lesser risk of dry eye
Correction of Myopia and Astigmatism up to – 10.00D
Outstanding cutting precision
Exceptional speed
Procedure is gentle and virtually pain-free
Ideal for the people involved in sports
Immediate return to normal life
